B. Volcano Sakurajima and Ash Clouds observed by JERS-1

Japanese Earth Resource Satellite(JERS)-1 was successfully launched on 11/Feb/92 from the base of NASDA in Tanegashima, located about 130 km SSE from Kagoshima City. Here we present the images of the OPS and SAR data of this satellite about Volcano Sakurajima, obtained in Theme no. J-38 of JERS-1 System Verification Program, MITI-NASDA.
Natural color images are obtained from OPS data by assigning 1, 2 and 3 bands to blue, red and green, respectively, with similar properties as in MOS/MESSR images, unless otherwise stated.
North direction is 8 degree to the left from upper direction, unless specially noted.
The width and length are indicated for each image.
