Satellite Image Network Group in Kagoshima(SING-Kagoshima)
consists of scientists and students belonging to various
institutions in Kagoshima University, Dai-ichi University,
Kagoshima Prefectural Institute of Environmental Science, and
Kagoshima Environmental Research and Service. It is expected to
cooperate with other groups of similar purpose outside Kagoshima
Prefecture, Japan. The maintenance of the home page is done by
Kazuki Takayama, Physics Department, Faculty of Education,
Kagoshima University.
Purpose
The aim of this home page is to present the satellite images
of scientific and public interests obtained during the research and
analysis of remote sensing data from satellites, with special
attention to the phenomena in southern Japan.
In the English version, we present selected ones for the
access from abroad, in contrast to extensive presentation in the
Japanese version for domestic watchers. Japanese version also
includes for educational purpose in schools a set of condensed data
covering Kagoshima Prefecture and a software to handle them, which
is now under construction.

Acknowledgements
The most of the source data for earth observation used here
were received and processed at Earth Observation Center, NASDA (now JAXA),
while the NOAA/AVHRR data up to 1995 were received at Weather
Satellite Center, Japan Meteorological Agency, and processed at
Japan Weather Association(JWA). Remote Sensing Technology Center
(RESTEC) and Earth Remote Sensing Data Analysis Center(ERSDAC)
greatly helped us in data transformation. We are very grateful to
the concerned persons in these institutions.
